Editorial overview
Procgen Arcana is a workshop of small generators rather than a single editor. One can produce a walled city, another a village, dungeon, mansion or regional map, all with Watabou's recognizable diagrammatic style. Rerolling and parameters make them useful when a game master needs spatial ideas faster than a blank canvas allows. Several tools export SVG or PNG, while the dungeon generator can also emit Markdown, voxel or JSON data for Dungeon Scrawl and RPG Map Editor. The FAQ permits broad use of generated images, including commercial projects.
A generated plan is a prompt, not an adventure. Buildings may lack functions, routes may ignore the fiction, and a dungeon's rooms do not automatically create good pacing or tactical choices. The underlying generator source is generally not offered as open software even though it is hosted on GitHub Pages. Users should record the seed or save outputs immediately, then annotate and adapt them elsewhere. Procgen Arcana excels when improvisation needs a credible shape; authors still have to explain why that shape exists.
