UK CAA Drone and Model Aircraft Hub

The UK CAA hub gives pilots a jurisdiction-specific route from a drone's weight and class to the rules that apply. Its Drone and Model Aircraft Code explains operator and flyer IDs, separation from people, height limits, visual line of sight, airport flight-restriction zones and the difference between open-category flying and work that needs additional authorisation. Formal CAA publications sit behind the simpler overview for pilots who need exact wording.

A map pin alone cannot establish that a British flight is lawful. Smaller airfields may not appear in every application, landowner permission is distinct from airspace permission, and local bylaws or protected sites may restrict take-off even where aviation airspace looks clear. The Code also changes over time, so an old training screenshot is weak evidence. Use the current CAA edition, check NOTAM and restriction information close to departure, and apply the limits for the actual aircraft and people nearby rather than a remembered rule of thumb.
