AdventureSmart Trip Plan

AdventureSmart's web trip planner turns the vague advice to tell someone into a useful record. A plan can include the route, expected return, party members, vehicle and information that would help a trusted contact explain the situation if the group is overdue. The wider AdventureSmart program frames preparation around trip planning, training and taking essentials, making the form part of a repeatable safety habit rather than an isolated document.

The service is not a live rescue monitor. The designated contact must understand when to worry, whom to call and how to share the plan; a search-and-rescue organization does not automatically watch every submission. AdventureSmart also reported that its mobile apps became temporarily unavailable for downloads and logins in February 2026, while the web planner continued to operate. Complete the plan with a real person, agree on an overdue threshold, update changes, and carry an appropriate communication device. A submitted form cannot summon help when nobody notices the missed return.
